New Language Setup
=====================
1 – setup your categories and channels in discord
If you want to start translating channels that already exist in your source language, put them all into one category. In ours, we use “EN – Community”. We use “EN” because we will later change the category names to the native language, and we want to make sure that we can tell which is which after that happens.
Under each category, setup channels that exactly match those under the source language. set the permissions to restricted for now.
2 – setup a role for the new language in discord server settings – sort alphabetically
Create new role in Discord / Server Settings / Roles
Use the two character iso code and the native language name, which you can get from here:
https://nvu.io/en/bots/discord-translator/wiki/supported-languages/
It should look like this, and also add a flag emoji for a country that primarily speaks the language.
JA – 日本語
3 – setup a matching reaction role in mee6 – sort alphabetically – connect to the discord role
Create a button with the 2 letter code and name in the native language
https://mee6.xyz/dashboard/1011174088099774474/reaction_roles
4 – setup the translation bot for each new auto-translating channel:
https://translator.nvu.io/guild/1011174088099774474/1012734704102932580
These two settings need to be set for each one:
Automatic Mode = Linked Group
Automatic Group Name = [copy the name of the channel you are working on in English]
5 – send a test message from English in English, with the name of the channel.
6 – if they all work, proceed. if they don’t all work debug and go again.
7 – rename channels & pretty it up!
in English – add an icon to the channel name. then go to that channel in the other language categories. copy the icon and the translated channel name into the actual channel name. then, delete from English, the channel name that we used to auto translate it.
8 – in all new channels – add permissions for the language roles!
