As you may have noticed over the last several months, Layer 2s such as Optimism and Base are experiencing a surge of interest and activity. They’re the hot topic of the cryptosphere for a reason; they’re reshaping the way we think about scalability and efficiency. The speed and savings in fees from using these networks are substantial, they have already opened the door for creators to build and experiment in new ways. With Layer 2s rapidly gaining traction, the topic of migrating Builder DAO will be a recurring one. Our resident engineers are working on the tools to enable this future but in the meantime, we would love to hear everyone’s thoughts in Discord or on Farcaster.
Jord’s Residency Pivot
In his recent residency proposal, Jord had initially planned to introduce an email notifications system for onchain DAO activities. However, challenges related to user privacy and overall experience have led them to reconsider. Jord’s full write-up on the team’s findings can be found here. Instead of pursuing this internally, the team is exploring third-party tools, particularly Senate Labs, which has been successfully adopted by organizations like Uniswap Foundation and Aave. Zaak is in talks with them to potentially run a pilot for Builder DAO.
Shifting gears, Jord’s will now be focusing on a promising new feature: a DAO User Dashboard. Many of us are members of multiple DAOs and have felt the friction when navigating to DAO pages manually. Addressing this concern, the team has partnered with a UI/UX Designer to optimize the user experience. A preview of their initial thoughts can be found here. Find the original announcement from the devs in Discord here or here.
Nouns Builder x OP Radio
Nouns Builder was featured in an episode of OP Radio this morning! Follow the link below to listen to the recording of Zaak discussing Nouns, Builder DAO, and Nouns Builder.
There has been discussion about the implementation of partitions within the treasury. This would require proposers to indicate which partition they are requesting funds from within the proposal building interface, but will obviously require debate among the DAO to determine final partition sizes. At first, there will likely only be “soft” partitioning, meaning there will be no protocol change, but before this is implemented we will need to discuss how we want to allocate partitions and what size each partition will be. Please catch up on the conversations at the link above, review the Partitions document prepared by Patti, and then add your thoughts to the thread here.
