The Nounsvitational: Where Esports Meets the World of Web3
Esports has seen significant economic growth in the past decade, with the global market projected to reach $1.5 billion by 2023. This growth has been driven by investment from traditional sports organizations, tech companies, and venture capital firms, as well as new revenue streams from live streaming platforms and online betting. Sponsorship and advertising deals have also contributed to the industry’s success.
Dota 2 is a popular and influential multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Valve Corporation and played by millions of people worldwide. It has a dedicated professional scene with numerous tournaments held annually and a dedicated fan base, and has inspired the creation of other MOBA games and helped to popularize the MOBA genre. Dota 2 has also contributed to the growth of the esports industry, with professional Dota 2 tournaments boasting large prize pools and attracting significant viewership.
SirActionSlacks is a well-known figure in the Dota 2 community known for his energetic personality and various roles in the scene. He gained fame through his YouTube channel where he released videos of himself playing Dota 2 and doing funny voices. He has also streamed on Twitch and worked as a host, interviewer, and caster at professional Dota 2 LANs. SirActionSlacks is a founding member of Moonduck Studios and has participated in various tournaments and podcasts with the company. He has also worked with Digital Chaos and The International 4 and 5 as an independent content creator. SirActionSlacks is currently working on The Nounsvitational, a Dota 2 tournament in Los Angeles. SirActionSlacks is highly interested in the work and innovations of Nouns DAO, and has planned a major Dota 2 event called “The Nounsvitational” as a way to bring together the two communities.
The Nounsvitational is a five-day Dota 2 tournament featuring ten of the top teams worldwide and top broadcast talent in the Dota scene. It would be held in Los Angeles from February 14th to February 18th and is a Tier 1 Dota 2 event, being the first LAN in Dota since the International World Championships in October. The Nounsvitational would be organized by Weplay, a company known for its high-quality tournament organization, and would feature custom game modes and Nouns branding. Between games, there would be custom Nouns video content that educates viewers on Nouns culture, structure, mission, and past projects. The event would take place in the Weplay Studio in Los Angeles and would bring the best teams from around the world to play, inviting Nouners and Nounsfolk to be part of the audience.
The video content created for The Nounsvitational and the event itself would be useful to the Nouns community as both proof of concepts and general media that can be used indefinitely. This media, particularly explainer videos on Nouns, Web3, and DAOs, would have great value for future proposal endeavors. The event is also an excellent opportunity to showcase current and past Nouns projects to first-time viewers in a captive audience and can include already created media from other successful proposals with interviews from the people involved.
