Gnars are a new way to fund extreme athletes
We prefer a world where kids aren’t sold energy drinks by their heroes. So as a community of action sports enthusiasts, we’ve formed a DAO to rethink how extreme athletes get sponsored.
Gnars are NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain
Based on Nouns open source and CC0 artwork, they’re stored fully on-chain with no external dependencies. Each one gets you a DAO vote and memberships are available at auction, forever.

Weekly Onboarding Sessions
We will now be hosting a weekly onboarding meeting every Wednesday at 4:00pm EST (6:00pm GMT-3). Experienced members from the community will hang out in a voice chat in discord for an hour to help teach people new to Gnars web3, discord, the governance process, and more. So whether you need help learning how to use a crypto wallet or just navigating the Gnars DAO organization and documentation, we’re here to help. You can RSVP for next week’s meeting here.

Gnars is coordinating weekly meetings to discuss and review upcoming and active proposals. We would like to gather input from the community to determine the best time to schedule these meetings to accommodate as many members as possible. Please take a minute to vote in the poll in discord.

Skatehive’s Decentralized Gnars DAO Sponsorship

Skatehive is a web3 skateboarding community on the Hive blockchain (formerly Steemit). This proposal is seeking to purchase and stake 3 ETH worth of Hive tokens, approximately 10,000 tokens at the time of writing. Hive allows for users to earn tokens from their content, and this decentralized sponsorship would help Gnars support content creators and athletes posting to Skatehive. This is a way for Gnars to support athletes and creators without actually needing to use funds from the treasury, as these staked funds will never leave the wallet and will actually grow over time. HeyAnoun has launched! Recently funded through Proposal 150, the product’s goal is to provide a venue for Nouners to express their true thoughts about proposals. They hope to provide greater transparency around the sentiment of proposals by allowing Nouners to give anonymous feedback while verifying that they are in fact owners of one or more Nouns.

Nouns will donate 100 ETH to ZachXBT! Or will they? We’ll see in about a week, as the proposal had to go back on chain for voting due to an unexpected error from the proposer. Many of us learned this for the first time over the past day – if the wallet that submitted the proposal loses its voting power of 2 prior to the proposal being executed, anyone can cancel the proposal.
