Gnars are a new way to fund extreme athletes

We prefer a world where kids aren’t sold energy drinks by their heroes. So as a community of action sports enthusiasts, we’ve formed a DAO to rethink how extreme athletes get sponsored.

Gnars are NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain

Based on Nouns open source and CC0 artwork, they’re stored fully on-chain with no external dependencies. Each one gets you a DAO vote and memberships are available at auction, forever.

Royalties are here!

With the recent passing of Proposal 51 the DAO has signaled a desire to implement royalties on secondary markets to earn additional revenue to the DAO’s treasury. As of February 8, the 4.20% royalties are in effect on OpenSea, and on-chain registries will be updated shortly. All revenue from royalties will be sent to the DAO at gnars.eth. Huge thanks to Gnarley-Quinn and Gami for getting this done!

As we work through changes to our governance structure, processes, and onboarding flow you’ll start to notice some changes in our Discord. If you’re in there regularly I’m sure you’ve seen that we’ve already begun making changes to channels! We are hoping to simplify things but also want to be sure we incorporate feedback from the community, so if you have any comments or concerns about changes being made please ping a board member!

More Updates for That’s Gnarly

The Collective team is constantly working on updates to the That’s Gnarly platform and this week is no exception. They’ve rolled out updates to their testnet contracts in preparation for a protocol upgrade that will have all drops minted to the same contract rather than a new one for each, along with a few other changes. Gnarving Coming Soon

I’m going to mention this every week until it happens because it’s that important! The gnarving is when the duration of each auction doubles, and this time the auction duration is going to increase from 40 to 80 minutes. At the time of this writing, there are 207 auctions left. And don’t forget, the next gnarving will also mark the beginning of auction extensions and the end of sniping! Interested in learning more about how our auctions work? Head over to onboard.wtf.

- This proposal is to sponsor a 2 day event for a smoke lounge and co-working space at ETHDenver. Attendees will be provided free entry with an ETHDenver badge and be provided Gnars DAO talks, giveaways, free joints, and more by the Gnars ambassadors Pin Pusher and Vlad. In addition to live painting and auctions, there will also be a Tony Hawk Pro Skater Contest and a Skate Contest at the local skatepark.
